Dr. Sadiq Saleem Sikora is the Director of Gastrointestinal Surgery at Sakra World Hospital. He has a vast experience of 25 years conducting specialized surgical procedures, which include “living related liver transplantation,” complex “pancreaticobiliary” resections for both benign and malignant disease, “liver resections, esophageal resections, surgery for portal hypertension, and colorectal disorders.” He is recognized as the Best Gastro Surgeon in Bangalore, and his major contributions are in the area of bile duct injury repairs, biliary and pancreatic cancers, innovative techniques in esophagus resection, pancreatic surgery, and hepaticojejunostomy. Imparting training for a “safe cholecystectomy” (gallbladder removal) and preventing bile duct injury is his passion.

He was a faculty in the Department of “Surgical Gastroenterology” at Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) at Lucknow from 1991 to 2005 and was involved in teaching, training, and research producing several publications in the area of work. At the Johns Hopkins Institute, Baltimore, Maryland with Prof JL Cameron, he gained insight into the nuances of pancreatic and biliary surgery, while on a UICC-sponsored ICRETT fellowship. Experience in Surgical Oncology, as a fellow in Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh, provided an in-depth understanding of cancer, the multimodality approach to this problem, and an insight into the novel and innovative (immunotherapy and gene therapy) treatment approaches to this dismal ailment. He was the key member of the team, which established the living-related liver transplant program at Kochi, Kerala, and was a member of the liver transplant team at SGPGIMS, Lucknow. Dr. Sikora started the successful Liver Transplant Program (cadaveric and living donor) at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. He is recognized as the best liver transplant surgeon all over the world for his pioneering work in liver transplantation in India.

Dr Sikora S Sikora had his MBBS and General Surgical training from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Then he moved to the prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) at Lucknow for his specialization. He later completed the “Surgical Oncology Fellowship” from the University of Pittsburgh, USA.

Best Paper Award and a Gold Medal for the paper entitled “Hilar Benign Biliary Stricture-need for Subclassification”, at the National Conference of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology 1997 held at Madurai, India. Invited faculty in National and International conferences to deliver talks on Pancreatic disorders, Bile duct injuries and GI cancers.
Visiting faculty at surgical workshops to demonstrate and perform surgical procedures.
Published more than 150 articles in International and National peer reviewed journals with significant contributions in the field of repair of bile duct injury and in pancreatic diseases.
He has contributed several notable chapters in books and has written review articles and editorials for various journals.
